What We Do
We partner with parents, CCSD, and the GLOBAL community to promote and support continued development and improvement of STEM Curriculum, school STEAM infrastructure, after school activities, community STEM organizations and special events.
Provisional Schedules for PTA STEM 20-21
This year will provide all manner of challenges for our community, district and the world at large. Many, if not all, of these challenges will be met by science, knowledge and our ability to adapt. We present our provisional schedule for the upcoming CCSD school year. We will send out reminders and Zoom links as appropriate.
First LEGO League (FLL) information session: September 21st @ 7 pm via Zoom
Destination Imagination (DI) information session: September 23th @ 7pm via Zoom
Science Olympiad (SO) information session for 7B students and parents: October 5 @2.30pm & 7pm via Hybrid or Zoom (tba)
Science Olympiad (SO) information session for Bell students and parents: October 15 @ 7pm via Hybrid or Zoom (tba)
Research Workshop (new) - similar to writers workshop: How to select a research topic, How to read, understand and write a research document: November 3 @10am-2pm (setting tba)
Weekend of Code: December 4-6 (settings and times tba)
FLL tournament: Jan 16 (tba)
Parent workshop on new tech and trends: February 6 @7pm (tba)
Science Olympiad Regionals: March 6 @Scarsdale Middle School
Destination Imagination Regionals: March 13 @Ossining Middle School
STEMFEST Chappaqua: March 20th @9am-1pm
Science Olympiad States: April 17th
Tri-County Science Fair: April 17th
Celebration of STEM (recognition event for CCSD STEM achievement): May 25 @6.30pm
We are seeking help with the following positions to help run STEM:
Treasurer - Manage STEM accounts, participate in 2 Stem Committee meetings/yr and spend about 2 hours a month to consolidate and produce next year budget.
DI Committee Chair - Looking for 2 people to help run the info session and be part of a support team to help teams reach their potential. One presentation in the beginning of the year and ad hoc support for the team if needed. Time commitment around 2 hours a month.
STEM Fest Committee Chairs (3) - Looking to add 2 more individuals to help and make this annual event a great success. This event is in March, commitment of 2 to 3 hours a week for a month and half.

With over 100 exhibits, nearly 200 student presenters and over a dozen exhibitors, and approximately 1000 attendees, our 6th annual STEMFEST is a fun and inspiring day of STEM discovery!
